The congress week has officially kicked off. All organisers are now in Paris and preparing to deliver a great congress for all participants of ECSS Paris 2023.
An impression after today’s dinner at “La Défense” before tomorrow’s pre-congress programme with two Satellites, the General Assembly and several Masterclasses at the Palais des Congrès.
We look forward to welcoming you in Paris very soon!

Good morning, Paris!
We’re pleased to report many ECSS congress participants have now arrived in Paris, are checked into the official congress hotel, and are enjoying their first day in this beautiful city!
There have been no delays reported and public transport is running as normal. Travellers have been advised not to cancel their trips, but to avoid some areas of the city late at night.
Our team are busy setting up registration and making the final preparations to welcome you to our congress!
Please note, our congress hotel (Tribe, La Defense) is a few stops away from the congress centre or a 40-minute walk. Please check at your hotel’s reception desk for travel information and maps.
We’re looking forward to seeing some of you at our pre-congress day tomorrow, and everyone else on the first official congress day on Wednesday!

The ECSS

All congress delegates have been informed via Newsletter about the current situation in Paris and that ECSS Paris 2023 will take place as planned. This was the information distributed to all congress delegates:
Dear ECSS Paris 2023 Participants,
Some of you have raised concern about the protests taking place in France and we would like to reassure you about the situation:
- Nanterre, on the north-western outskirts of Paris, is one of the main areas of unrest and we strongly recommend that you do not visit or walk around this area.
- Some public transport services are partly limited, but the Metro system is still operating as normal as are flights and trains coming in and out of Paris.
- The security at the official congress hotel has been reassessed with additional measures in place, and both, the congress hotel as well as the congress centre have remarked that their venues are safe places.
After discussing the situation with our representatives in Paris, we would like to clarify that ECSS Paris 2023 will take place as planned.
Some large-scale events such as musical concerts have been cancelled by local government officials, but we have been assured by our contacts onsite that there is no cancellation of our congress. Many areas of Paris, including the area in which our congress will take place, are not affected by the protests and are functioning normally.
We remain in close contact with our local partners and members of the ECSS team, many of whom are already in Paris. We will update our website here with any new or relevant information.
Yours in Sport Science,
The ECSS
