CONGRESS PROMOTION: Call for Papers for 2nd China-ASEAN International Conference on Physical Fitness and Health Promotion
The ECSS exchange partner, the China Sport Science Society (CSSS), in collaboration with the Sports Bureau of Shaanxi Province and the China Institute of Sport Science (CISS), is hosting the 2nd China-ASEAN International Conference on Physical Fitness and Health Promotion. Scheduled to be held from 8-12 October 2024 in Xi’an, the conference invites international scholars to submit their papers and participate in academic exchanges and discussions through various formats. Interested members can contribute by submitting their paper by 30 August 2024. More details about the conference and the submission process can be found on the official conference website.

ECSS Glasgow 2024 - Two weeks left!
In two weeks, ECSS Glasgow 2024 opens its doors at SEC in Glasgow to welcome our congress participants to four days of scientific exchange and networking!
Please remember to bring your passport to enter the UK, an adapter for your electrical sockets, sporting clothes if you would like to take advantage of the Nuffield Health Glasgow Central Fitness & Wellbeing Gym (see below) and do not forget your headphones to listen to our poster sessions!

ECSS President Elect, Prof. Janice Thompson has been awarded the British Empire Medal
The British Empire Medal is awarded for 'Achievement or contribution of a very hands-on service to the community in a local geographical area' and our ECSS Executive Board Member and President Elect, Prof. Janice Thompson, has been honoured with this award for her services to the public health. With her 30 years of experience in examining factors that influence diet- and physical activity-related lifestyle choices, she has been able to use her expertise to work in partnership with communities to develop and evaluate culturally tailored lifestyle interventions to reduce risks for obesity and type 2 diabetes. Congratulations on this honourable award!

Problems with the delivery of ECSS newsletters and notifications
Please note that due to various technical changes at different email providers, we are currently experiencing problems with our newsletters and notifications being rejected by these providers and not being successfully delivered. This is particularly the case with @gmail and @163. Unfortunately, this also applies to some personalised emails from our office account (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). It may be helpful to add our office account address to your contact list and you can find all our newsletters linked on our ECSS newsletter webpage to stay up to date. We are working on this problem and hope to solve it soon.
Please check your ECSS account for acceptance or rejection of your submitted abstract to ECSS Glasgow 2024, if you have not received the newsletter on 2 April.
EDIT: The technical problem could be solved around 15 April and also gmail- and 163-adresses should receive our newsletter again. Thank you for your understanding!

Final site visit to Glasgow
From 3-4 April we had our final site visit to Glasgow! We had fruitful discussions about the final details with the SEC and our local host, the University of West of Scotland. We are very much looking forward to ECSS Glasgow 2024!

Today is the last chance to submit your best research for ECSS Glasgow 2024 and apply for the ECSS YIA and GSSI Award as well as the ECSS and ECSS YIA Travel Grants! Log in to your ECSS account and click 'Send an abstract'. Further information on how to submit an abstract can be found here. Award applications must be uploaded when submitting the abstract, email applications are no longer accepted. All travel documents must be uploaded to the ECSS account after the abstract submission but before abstract submission deadline. Incorrect and incomplete applications for the awards and travel grants will be rejected.

Automatic Membership Renewal
As defined in our ECSS Bye-Laws we have started the automatic membership renewal model starting 2023. Thus, all members who have not cancelled their membership by 29 September 2023 will automatically stay members for 2024 and the ECSS will charge your bank account to the amount equivalent to your membership status starting today.
