The main scientific event in our calendar each year is our Annual Congress. The Annual Congress has been organised since our inauguration in 1995. We meet in a unique location every year which has been selected following a thorough bidding process.
Today, the ECSS congress ranks among the leading sport science events in the world. It offers a range of invited lectures, symposia and oral presentations as well as workshops, satellites, poster sessions, award opportunities and our world-class exhibition (SportEx). Every year the congress welcomes approximately 3000 international participants from sport science and related fields.
Participate
The invited programme (invited symposia and plenary sessions) is constructed at the ECSS Winter Meeting 7 months prior to the respective congress. The programme is debated by the Local Scientific Committee and the ECSS Scientific Board.
ECSS encourages all members to actively participate in the building of the invited programme. You are able to submit your proposals via your ECSS account, where you will find the submission link in the “myMembership & Benefits” section.
The deadline for the submission of proposals is mid-November the year prior to the congress in question (exact dates announced on the respective congress website). After this deadline, the submission system is closed and no proposals are accepted outside of this window.
All proposals undergo review by the ECSS Scientific Board and the Local Scientific Committee. Proposals are only accepted for review if they fulfill the submission criteria clearly indicated on the respective congress webpage.
As the congress days are limited, we have no more than 3 plenary sessions and 35 invited symposia. ECSS cannot guarantee nor promise that your proposal will be part of the scientific programme. You will be informed about the acceptance/rejection of your proposal in December following the submission deadline.
