ECSS has a number of travel grants available for attending the ECSS Annual Congress in person, as follows:
ECSS Travel Grant
ECSS offers three (3) ECSS Travel Grants of €600 each. These grants are available independently of participation in the ECSS YIA competition. During the abstract submission process, submitters can opt-in for the ECSS Travel Grant.
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Not previously awarded an ECSS Travel Grant.
- Select “Yes - I wish to apply for the ECSS Travel Grant” during abstract submission.
- Upload proof of university affiliation (in English; in ECSS account) from a country listed up to Lower Middle Income Countries1, according to the DAC List of ODA Recipients.
- Upload proof of current residence (in English; in ECSS account) from a country listed up to Lower Middle Income Countries1, according to the DAC List of ODA Recipients.
- Accepted abstract for the 31st ECSS Annual Congress - ECSS Lausanne 2026 (Notification to authors: 1 April 2026).
Please note: If awarded a Travel Grant, the Congress registration fee must be paid before the Travel Grant payment is issued.

ECSS YIA Travel Grant
ECSS and its official Publishing Partner Wiley offer five (5) ECSS YIA Travel Grants of €600 each. These grants are specifically for ECSS Young Investigators Award (ECSS YIA) candidates. During the abstract submission process, YIA applicants can opt-in for the ECSS YIA Travel Grant.
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Not previously awarded an ECSS YIA Travel Grant.
- Select “Yes - I wish to apply for the ECSS YIA Travel Grant” during abstract submission.
- Upload proof of university affiliation (in English; in ECSS account).
- Upload proof of current residence (in English; in ECSS account), regardless of country .
- Accepted abstract for ECSS YIA presentation for the 31st ECSS Annual Congress - ECSS Lausanne 2026 (Notification to authors: 1 April 2026).
Awarding Criteria: While all countries of residence are eligible, priority is given to applicants from countries listed up to Lower Middle Income Countries1, according to the DAC List of ODA Recipients. If no eligible applicants from DAC-listed countries apply, or if fewer than five are eligible, the remaining grants may be awarded to other applicants based on the ECSS YIA abstract evaluation ranking. If multiple applicants from the same priority category apply, the grant will go to the one with the highest-rated abstract.

GSSI Young Scholar Travel Grant
Our platinum partner, the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI), offers the GSSI Young Scholar Travel Grant to Early Career Researchers, anywhere in the world, in the field of sports nutrition and hydration, presenting their work at the ECSS Annual Congress. Abstracts submitted in these two areas in both presentation formats, oral or poster, may opt in to apply for the GSSI Young Scholar Travel Grant.
