ECSS has a number of travel grants available for attending the ECSS Annual Congress in person, as follows:
ECSS Travel Grant
The College offers three ECSS Travel Grants each for €600 (Euros). During the online abstract submission process, applicants have the opportunity to opt in for the ECSS Travel Grant. The applicant must fulfill the following requirements:
- The applicant is not a former ECSS Travel Grant winner.
- The applicant has successfully submitted an abstract for presentation at the ECSS Annual Congress and ticked 'Yes - I wish to apply for the ECSS Travel Grant' during abstract submission.
- The applicant has uploaded a proof of a university affiliation (in English language) of a country listed up to Lower Middle Income Countries1 from the DAC List of ODA Recipients in the ECSS account.
- The applicant has uploaded a proof of current residence (in English language) of a country listed up to Lower Middle Income Countries1 from the DAC List of ODA Recipients in the ECSS account.
- The applicant has paid the full registration fee before receiving the ECSS Travel Grant money.

ECSS YIA Travel Grant
At every ECSS Congress, ECSS and its official publishing partner, Wiley, offer up to five Travel Grants of €600 each for ECSS Young Investigators Award (YIA) candidates. During the online abstract submission process, applicants for the ECSS YIA have the opportunity to opt in for the ECSS YIA Travel Grant. The applicant must fulfill the following requirements:
- The applicant is not a former ECSS YIA Travel Grant winner.
- The applicant has successfully submitted an abstract for an ECSS YIA presentation at the ECSS Annual Congress and ticked ‘Yes - I wish to apply for the ECSS YIA Travel Grant’ during abstract submission.
- The applicant has uploaded a proof of a university affiliation (in English language) of a country listed up to Lower Middle Income Countries1 from the DAC List of ODA Recipients in the ECSS account.
- The applicant has uploaded a proof of current residence (in English language) of a country listed up to Lower Middle Income Countries1 from the DAC List of ODA Recipients in the ECSS account.
- The applicant has paid the full registration fee before receiving the ECSS YIA travel grant money.
Following a review of all ECSS YIA applications by the ECSS Scientific Board and ECSS Scientific Committee, ECSS YIA travel grants are then selected according to the results of the ECSS YIA’s abstract selection process and offered to candidates.

GSSI Young Scholar Travel Grant
Our platinum partner, the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI), offers the GSSI Young Scholar Travel Grant to young researchers (35 years of age or younger at the time of the Annual Congress), anywhere in the world, in the field of sports nutrition and hydration, presenting their work at the ECSS Annual Congress. Abstracts submitted in these two areas in both presentation formats, oral or poster, may opt in to apply for the GSSI Young Scholar Travel Grant.
