One of ECSS’ key objectives is the development of early career researchers and the fostering of state-of-the-art research. For this reason, ECSS established the Young Investigators Award (YIA).
Since the inauguration of ECSS in Nice, France in 1995, the YIA has become an integral part of the College.
Young researchers have the opportunity of entering this prestigious competition for scientific excellence, where their outstanding work can be presented at the ECSS annual congress. A jury consisting of the ECSS Scientific Board and ECSS Scientific Committee grants the awards for the top ten oral and top four conventional print poster presentations.
Today many former YIA winners are still closely connected to the ECSS and even support ECSS’ boards and committees. For many, the award has functioned as a starting point of their scientific career.
