Requirements
Applications for the ECSS Young Investigators Award (ECSS YIA) that meet all of the requirements are welcome to be submitted online, using the abstract submission process of the upcoming ECSS Congress.
Criteria for the ECSS YIA
- Only one paper as first author must be submitted for participation in the ECSS YIA 2027 by 15 February 2027, 24:00 CET.
- During abstract submission, you have uploaded a current student enrolment certificate of your university (in English language) including its expiration date or a digital copy of your university or doctoral degree showing that you were awarded it within two years before the abstract submission deadline (i.e., you were awarded it after 15 February 2025).
- A valid ID, passport, or driver’s licence (in English) must be uploaded to verify that the investigator is 35 years of age or younger at the abstract submission deadline (born after 15 February 1991).
- A signed and stamped ECSS YIA Verification Form 2027 must be uploaded during abstract submission by 15 February 2027.
- The investigator has made an independent and reasonable contribution to the work submitted for presentation.
- ECSS Membership for 2027 must be paid, with the investigator registered as an ECSS Student Member or Member by 15 February 2027.
- Registration for ECSS Lausanne 2027 must be completed by 14 May 2027.
- Previous ECSS YIA winners cannot participate in the same category again (Oral/Conventional Print Poster).
Criteria for the ECSS YIA
- To apply for the ECSS Young Investigators Award (YIA), you must select ‘Yes’ for ‘Application for ECSS YIA’ when submitting your abstract.
- You will then be prompted to upload the required supporting documents.
- Your abstract submission cannot be completed, and you cannot participate in the ECSS YIA competition, unless all required documents have been uploaded.
- Once your abstract has been submitted, ECSS YIA documents cannot be resubmitted or sent by email.
- To be considered for the ECSS YIA, all application requirements must be completed by the stated deadlines.
- No deadline extensions will be granted for ECSS YIA applications.
- You can track the status of your ECSS YIA application by logging in to your ECSS Account and viewing the information under ‘myCongress’.
- Abstract submissions are accepted online only.
- Incomplete ECSS YIA applications will not be considered.
- Applications are accepted only for Oral and Conventional Print Poster Presentation formats.
- An ECSS YIA award recipient cannot also receive the GSSI Sports Nutrition Award in the same year, and vice versa.
The ECSS YIA Verification Form 2026 (application form coming soon) must be verified by an authorised person (e.g., Head of Institute) from the ECSS YIA applicant’s department, who should also certify that the ECSS YIA applicant has made an independent and reasonable contribution to the work submitted for presentation.
