Founded in Nice, France in 1995, we have established ourselves as the leading sport science community in Europe, with a truly international demographic.

We are a non-profit scientific organisation devoted to the promotion and dissemination of multi-and interdisciplinary research in sport and exercise science. ECSS is governed by the ECSS Charter and the ECSS Bye-laws. Articles record such information as the college’s name, its registered seat and the number of members of the ECSS boards.
Our vision
Our purpose and vision are to lead the promotion and application of world-class, multi- and interdisciplinary science in sport, exercise, physical activity and health.
In 2020, we launched a new strategy (2020-2025) which established four core missions for the college and its role in sport science:
- Disseminate high quality, innovative science
- Empower the development of young scientists
- Build and retain an engaged ECSS community
- Develop strong partnerships within the private and public sectors
