ECSS Founding Members are individuals who participated in the founding meeting of the ECSS in Nice, France on 11 February 1995.
Founding Members
ECSS Honorary Members shall be appointed by the Executive Board on the basis of significant contributions to sport science and/or the work and objectives of the ECSS.
Honorary Members
All Founding and Honorary Members have a lifelong ECSS membership and free registration to the Annual Congress of the European College of Sport Science.
Our purpose and vision are to lead the promotion and application of world-class, multi- and interdisciplinary science in sport, exercise, physical activity and health.
In 2020, we launched a new strategy (2020-2025) which established four core missions for the college and its role in sport science:

ECSS has spread its wings globally over its 20+ years and has grown a vast international audience who are passionate about sport science.
We are a non-profit scientific organisation devoted to the promotion and dissemination of multi-and interdisciplinary research in sport and exercise science. Founded in Nice, France in 1995, we have established ourselves as the leading sport science community in Europe, with a truly international demographic.
ECSS is governed by the ECSS Charter and the ECSS Bye-laws. Articles record such information as the college's name, its registered seat and the number of members of the ECSS boards.
