The 3rd ECSS Bengt Saltin Run took place in Essen, Germany on 7 July 2017. The run is organised in the memory of ECSS Founding member Prof. Bengt Saltin, who was the spiritual father of the European College of Sport Science.

At 7:00 am on Friday morning at the ECSS MetropolisRuhr 2017 congress 137 runners turned up to the starting line. Some of the runners took the run as a nice morning exercise whilst the others sprinted of in the start to head for the win.
