ECSS has established four exceptional exchange partnerships with international sport scientific associations. The partnerships offer mutual benefit to both the ECSS and the exchange partner. ECSS invites the partners to participate in the annual congresses of the ECSS to showcase their expertise in sport science.

Additionally, two of the partner associations support the ECSS Young Investigators Award (YIA) by inviting the winners (3 winners from the oral category and the mini-oral winner) to present their successful work in their congresses.

American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)

The ACSM has been an exchange partner of the ECSS since 1998. Every year at the annual meeting of both associations an exchange lecture takes place. This year’s session focuses on body’s defense system and how physical activity can influence this.

Japanese Society of Physical Fitness and Sports Medicine (JSPFSM)

Since 1998 this fruitful exchange partnership has provided both associations a platform to network and exchange ideas in the multidisciplinary field of sport and exercise science.

JSPFSM supports together with the ECSS, the three ECSS YIA Award winners in the oral category. The winners travel to Japan to present their work in an international session at the annual congress of the JSPFSM. In 2016 Nattai Borges, Danny Christensen and Hans-Peter Wiesinger participated the 71st annual congress of the JSPFSM in Morioka, Japan.

At ECSS Vienna 2016 ESSA representative Lauren McKeown presented a study Eccentric Exercise in Patients with Chronic Heart Failure.

ECSS representative Tetsuhiro Kidokoro, ECSS YIA Mini-Oral Winner from Malmö, got the chance to travel to Melbourne, Australia to present his YIA Winning presentation Associations between various intensities of physical activity and physical fitness in adolescents.
