European Journal of Sport Science becomes official sponsor of the ECSS Young Investigators Award

The ECSS is proud and excited to announce that it’s main publication, the European Journal of Sport Science (EJSS), is now the official sponsor of the Young Investigators Award (YIA) at the Annual Congress.

By creating this stronger link, the ECSS brings together two of its key missions

  • Disseminating high quality, innovative science
  • Empowering the development of young scientists.

You can read more about the ECSS’s vision here.

It has been a long term ambition of the ECSS to fund this prestigious award and highlight the excellence of young scientists from around the world. Given the ongoing success of the Journal and continuous development of it’s activities, the EJSS is now in a strong position to do this.  EJSS hopes that the partnership with the YIA competition will see even more high quality publications from YIA winners reach the audience of the Journal.

What does this mean?

The ECSS is reinvesting the journal’s success back into the promotion and development of young scientists through the YIA programme. This link will create a platform for young scientists to develop as researchers and become future authors, reviewers, and editors of EJSS and other scientific journals.

The history of the YIA

One of the key objectives of the ECSS is the promotion of young scientists and the fostering of world-class research. The ECSS established the YIA at its inaugural congress in Nice in 1996, with Mars Inc. as founding sponsor, offering generous cash prizes to support up-coming scientists. Young scientists have since had the opportunity to enter this prestigious competition for scientific excellence, allowing outstanding scientific work to be celebrated at the ECSS annual congress.

The award has provided previous YIA winners a valuable starting point of their scientific career, and indeed many former YIA winners are still closely connected to the ECSS and continue to support the ECSS in its boards, committees, and furthermore produce YIA winners from their own research groups.
