Video transcript start:
We wanted to better understand factors that influence young athlete’s continued participation in the sport of cricket. What we did is:
- We collected performance and participation related data from a large junior cricket association in Australia.
- We then ran a multi-variable logistic regression analysis to determine which of these factors significantly influence player retention.
From this, we were able to determine that players that took more wickets whilst bowling and scored more runs whilst batting were more likely to continue their participation in the sport.
