IOC establishes research working group - MR 29.11.2010
The ECSS would like to draw your attention to an "Ad-Hoc Research Working Group on Body Composition, Health and Performance" set up by the IOC's Medical Commission in Graz, Austria in October 2010.
To address the issues of current weight loss practices in sport together with the serious consequences to the health of the athletes involved, this international research group has been tasked to identify medical problems and research needs in the fields of body composition, health and performance.
Aiming to develop suggestions for practical approaches concentrating on body composition issues and underweight problems the group, coordinated by Prof. Wolfram Müller from the University of Graz, Austria emphasizes on aesthetic sports, weight-category sports and gravitational sports.
