The syndrome Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (REDs) describes impairment of multiple physiological functions including e.g., reproductive and gastrointestinal function, bone health, protein synthesis and performance. The etiology behind is problematic (long-term/severe) low energy availability with or without eating disorders.

The interdisciplinarity of REDs involves clinicians and practitioners, nutritionists, psychologists, physiologists, endocrinologists etc. Therefore, the ECSS REDs SIG create a pan-European platform for exchange and networking regarding relevant research topics and on-going research during the annual meeting, as well as increases awareness and knowledge of REDs within the ECSS sport environment.
